Meet the Creator
Hi! I’m Shannon D. Smith—a Certified Professional in Talent Development (CPTD), and the creator of Get Untrapped™.
I help professionals and creatives make decisions they won’t regret—so they can reclaim clarity, restore their energy, and rebuild self-trust.
With dual Master’s degrees in Industrial-Organizational Psychology and Instructional Design, I’ve spent years studying why people stay stuck—and how they finally move forward.
Why I Created Get Untrapped™
For a long time, I made decisions for the sake of peace, protection, or approval—without realizing the cost.
I stayed in a marriage that hollowed me out because I thought loyalty meant losing myself.
I stayed in roles that drained me because I believed being responsible meant sacrificing what I wanted.
I stayed in faith spaces that silenced me because I was taught obedience meant abandoning my questions.
I told myself it was wisdom.
I told myself it was maturity.
I told myself I was doing the right thing.
But beneath all of that was fear—fear of disappointing people, fear of letting go, fear of choosing wrong.
I know what it’s like to build a life around expectations, fear, and survival mode—and wake up feeling like a stranger in your own story.
Get Untrapped™ started as my personal journey of breaking free from roles, routines, and patterns I didn’t even realize were running my life.
Today, it’s a space where I help others do the same—by giving you the tools, insights, and decision support you need to move forward with clarity and confidence.
Get Untrapped™ is designed to help you:
→ Name the real reason you feel stuck
→ Trust your inner signals instead of your fear
→ Make braver decisions without betraying yourself
Everything I create is rooted in lived experience and grounded in the psychology of how adults learn, grow, and make decisions—so you can stop making choices from fear, fatigue, or survival mode, and start making decisions that truly fit your life.
I don’t believe you need to be fixed.
You need space to hear yourself think, trust what you know, and stop making decisions from fear, fatigue, or survival mode.
That’s the heart of this work.
And that’s why I’m here.
